The Harley-Davidson York plant will be offering Saturday tours this summer.  Here is the release from the company.

YORK, Pa., July 19, 2013 – Planning for a fun-filled summer? Don’t forget to add a visit to the Harley-Davidson York Vehicle Operations for a free factory tour. Now through Aug. 24, the York facility is offering free tours on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Although there is typically no production on Saturdays, there is still plenty to see. In addition, free factory tours are also available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.   “Summer is a great time to get out and visit the many destinations and attractions in the area,” said Amy Warner, Manager, Factory Tour Operations. “Harley-Davidson’s York factory tours offer visitors an opportunity to learn how many of the company’s iconic motorcycles are manufactured here in Pennsylvania.”   The factory tour experience begins in the plant’s Vaughn L. Beals Tour Center where guests can sit on current model-year Harley-Davidson motorcycles and learn more about the plant and Harley-Davidson’s 110 year history. On the one-hour tour, participants get to see up close how many of the components are made. The tour center also includes a gift shop featuring T-shirts and other branded souvenirs. Many of these items are unique to this facility and can only be purchased in York. The gift shop is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4p.m, and on Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.   The York plant also launched a Steel Toe Tour option in 2012 that is offered during the majority of the year. The Steel Toe Tour, a $35 ticket, allows for smaller groups and a closer look at operations, including exclusive access to employee-only areas. Due to this increased access, these tours are not conducted while the plant produces Harley-Davidson’s new 2014 models. The tours are slated to resume Aug. 19.  Call 1-877-883-1450 for the most current schedule of available tours.   Tour participants must be at least 12-years old, wear fully enclosed shoes, and follow all safety guidelines.
