Famous sculptors from all around the world gathered at Revere Beach in Boston, Massachusetts this weekend for the 10th annual sand sculpting festival. This year’s theme was “Boston Strong” and can be seen in the festival’s centerpiece sculpture. 15 competing sculptures were built by a record 25 master sculptors utilizing more than 350 tons of sand as they squared off for thousands of dollars in prizes. More than 500,000 spectators flocked to watch their artistry over the course of the three-day festival. Judges rated the masterpieces on degree of difficulty, creativity, quality of the sculpting, and the overall visual impact.
This year’s winner was a Montreal man who won with his sculpture of an octupus, inside-out.
