A Williamsport man is in Adams County Prison, after police find him in possession of counterfeit money, illegal guns, drugs and two improvised explosive devices. It happened just before 1am Sunday at the South Mountain Fairgrounds. State Police troopers were alerted to suspicious activity taking place. They found Justin Merrill,21, of Williamsport, was trying to buy drugs with counterfeit money. In all, police say Merrill had $1200 in fake US $20 bills.  Merrill also was packing two semi-automatic handguns without the necessary conceal-carry permit. Police searched around Merrill’s vehicle, and discovered two improvised explosive devices in the rear of the vehicle. The bomb squad was called in to check the devices. The devices were determined to be inactive. During a search of Merrill’s vehicle, they found marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Merrill is charged with Weapons of Mass Destruction; Possession of a Firearm, Possession of a Small Amount of Marijuana; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Forgery.

Police say Merrill’s intent is unknown, but there were no indicators that lead investigators to believe that these devices were ever going to be used for any type of attack.
