A young child suffered burns and smoke inhalation in a Lancaster City rowhome fire. The fire broke out at about 2:52 Thursday afternoon inside the home near the intersection of Green and South Christian Streets.
The first city fire crew arrived on the scene to smoke pouring from a third floor dormer window. A second alarm was sounded for additional manpower. The fire, which apparently began in a third floor, was quickly knocked down.
The child was one of the three people who escaped the burning house. A city fire captain the youngster is expected to be airlifted to a burn unit. The other two fire victims were not injured.
The city Fire Marshal is investigating the exact cause of the fire.
