One Adams County woman got the surprise of a lifetime this weekend. Sandra Fitz was outside her Gettysburg home when she looked down the steps to her basement and found an alligator blocking the stairway. She immediately called police.

Where the intruder came from is still a mystery, but animal control officers think he was probably a pet that someone let loose after it got too big to care for.

Everyone was okay, including the gator, who officials took to live at Zoo America in Hershey.
