A Franklin County man has been arrested and charged with possession over 1,000 bags of heroin, police said. Brent E. Salmon, 30, of Lurgan Township, was arrested Thursday after officers found 1,148 bags of heroin at his home located along the 11000 block of Tanyard Hill Road.

Authorities say Salmon traveled back and forth to Philadelphia several times a week where he would pick up large quantities of heroin and then return to Franklin County. Salmon would then distribute the drugs in the Orrstown and Chambersburg area, police said.

Each bag of heroin has a street value of $10 in Philadelphia and $20-$30 in central Pennsylvania, according to police reports.

Salmon is charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was taken to Franklin County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 13.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and they anticipate making more arrests.

“This is the second largest heroin bust in County history, and I am very proud of the efforts of all cooperating agencies, who constantly work together to rid our County of this deadly poison,” said Franklin County District Attorney Matthew Fogal.
