A Lancaster man is accused of impersonating a public servant as he drove recklessly and berated other drivers. It happened on July 8th on the New Danville Pike. Police say Khusen A. Akhmedov, 23, of South Queen Street, Lancaster, was driving at a high rate of speed, almost striking other vehicles. While he yelled at other motorists, he held a badge out his window. that badge was actually an EMT badge. Police were able to Identify Akhmedov with the help of several witnesses.
Police say there is no record that Akhmedov is an EMT or employed as one. He has been charged with Impersonating a Public Servant and Reckless Driving.
This incident occurred about a week before authorities say Akhmedov struck a woman and three children in Philadelphia. Akhmedov was apparently racing southbound on Roosevelt Boulevard from Front Street in Philly on July 16th when he lost control of his Audi and struck 28 year old Samara Banks and her four children. Banks and her 23 month old son were pronounced dead at the scene. Her 7 month old child, Saamir Williams was pronounced dead at Einstein Hospital. Another child, a 4 year old died early Thursday morning. A fourth child, a 5 year old boy is in stable condition at Einstein Hospital with bumps and bruises.
Philadelphia police charged Khusen Akhmedov and another man with Homicide by Vehicle, 3rd Degree Murder and Involuntary Manslaughter, 5 counts of Recklessly Endangering Another Person, Aggravated Assault, and Aggravated Assault by Vehicle.
