The search for a missing seven-month-old infant moved to a York County landfill Wednesday with police saying they didn’t gather any new evidence.

York Area Regional Police and Upper Darby Twp., Delaware County, police searched Modern Landfill Wednesday afternoon after saying they’d received tips to check. They declined to say what the tips were, but said the search came up empty.

Police are trying to figure out what happened to seven-month-old Hamza Ali. Police say his mother’s boyfriend, Ummad Rushdi, shook him and killed him last Sunday in Upper Darby. Police believe Rushdi brought the baby back to Central Pennsylvania and buried it. But, police say Rushdi isn’t telling them where.

They’ve searched an area in Columbia, Lancaster County, at the intersection of routes 30 and 441 where police found Rushdi’s brother’s car abandoned the day the baby disappeared.

Police also have searched Rushdi’s home in Windsor Township, York County.

During the most recent search on Tuesday, police say they took more than 30 things from the home including pick axes, a small shovel, computers, cell phones and documents, according to a search warrant returned Wednesday.

Police say they expect to hold a news conference Thursday morning to release new information in the case.

Rushdi is being held in the Delaware County Prison on $750,000 bail. Police have charged him with kidnapping and other crimes.
