Franklin County club volleyball coach charged with sexual assault of juvenile

A club volleyball coach in Franklin County faces multiple charges of sexual assault involving a juvenile.  State Police say 32 year old Shawn Ranck, was a coach on the Chambersburg Area Volleyball Express travel team.

Between January 1, 2012 and January 2013, Ranck allegedly at various times showed pornographic movies, provided alcohol, touched the juvenile’s penis and solicited oral sex from the boy. The victim was 14 and 15 years during the attacks. Ranck was the juvenile’s coach on the volleyball team.

Charges against Ranck include Indecent Assault, Corruption of a Minor, and Criminal Attempt Involuntary Deviate Sexual Intercourse. Following arraignment Ranck was sent to Franklin County Prison in lieu of $250,000.

The investigation was conducted Pennsylvania State Police-Chambersburg, Chambersburg Borough Police, Franklin County Children and Youth and the Franklin County District Attorney’s Office.
