Police investigate Lancaster stabbing

Police in Lancaster released the following information about a stabbing in the city early Sunday morning:

“At approximately 3:16 a.m. on this date, Officers from the Lancaster Bureau of Police responded to the Lancaster General Hospital regarding a stabbing victim that had just arrived there for treatment. The victim is a 49-year-old city resident and he was stabbed in the abdomen area of his body. Officers were able to speak with the victim briefly before he went into surgery. It is likely that this assault took place on S. Marshall Street in the City. All indications are that this was not a random incident; that there are indications that the suspect and victim knew each other.

“The victim’s condition is listed as stable but critical.

“City Officer and Detectives are currently following up on possible leads. If anyone has information related to this assault they are encouraged to contact the Lancaster Bureau of Police at 717-735-3300. You are reminded that you can provide information anonymously.”
