(CNN) — It may have been one of the most eagerly anticipated casting choices of the year, and we now know the leads in the film adaptation of “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

The novel’s author, E.L. James, tweeted on Monday that actor Charlie Hunnam will portray Christian Grey, and actress Dakota Johnson has been cast as Anastasia Steele.

The highly successful erotic novel was released in 2011, and fans have been speculating about who might portray the two main characters since plans for a film were announced last year. A psychology lecturer at the University of Central Lancashire even put a face to the character of billionaire Grey, who has had readers all aflame.

Now, the fantasy will come to life in the form of Hunnam, who is one of the stars of the film “Pacific Rim” and the television series “Sons of Anarchy.”

Johnson is the daughter of actors Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson and has appeared in the films “The Five-Year Engagement” and “21 Jump Street.”

Let the cheers — or the jeers — begin!

Thee books are a sad commentary about the health of American men and women. They are described as mommy porn. I understand that life can become routine BUT trust me, the more you sweat outside the bedroom the more heat you'll generate in the bedroom (or anywhere else for that matter). In other words, how many of these mommy's needed these books when they and their partners were young, fit, energetic ready to take on life, etc. Even with kids and age, life does not need to be routine.

Stay physically fit and schedule exciting adventures outside the bedroom and the "rest" will fall into place…at any age. Trust me, go kayaking or on a 10+ mile run or a 40+ mile bike ride, get that heart pumping that blood flowing. But of course you can't do that if like so many of the married woman I overhear reading these books have out of shape husbands or share no physical resemblence to the man they married. So get them off the couch and whenever possible live like there is no tomorrow and you won't need these books.
