The devastating fire that engulfed the Seaside boardwalk in Seaside Heights New Jersey is under control.

The fire broke out around 2pm near Kohr’s Ice Cream.

More than 32 businesses have been destroyed.

Firefighters had problems extinguishing the fire because of winds.

The boardwalk was front of Funtown Pier, which survived Hurricane Sandy. The pier was also destroyed in the fire. It was in the area where the amusement park was dragged into the water by the hurricane tides.

Governor Christie addressed the media and said the sight of the damage makes him “want to throw up.” He also told people to stay away from the boardwalk.
