After hours spent negotiating with a suicidal man pointing a gun at himself, police were able to take the man into custody without incident. It started around 7:30am on the 1500 block of Oak Street. Police found the man, a 68 year-old resident, sitting on the side porch of his home with a small caliber revolver pointed at his own chest.

Police were on scene for several hours negotiating with the subject.  The Lebanon County ESU Team was activated as well.  Finally, at 2pm, the ESU Team utilized a noise-flash diversionary device and took the subject into custody without incident.

At no time during the incident did the subject threaten other persons or point the firearm at Law Enforcement.

The subject was transported from the scene by Emergency Medical Services and is being evaluated for mental health purposes.

Police say they do not expect to file criminal charges against the subject.
