The Northern York County Regional Police Department are warning residents about a phishing scam involving an email that appears to have been sent from Verizon.  The email tells customers Verizon the cannot charge the customers’ credit card and requests they click on a link to update their credit card information.

Police say the email is not legitimate.  If you have followed the link and provided credit card information, please check your account for unauthorized usage and cancel the credit card.  If you have been a victim of this scam and unauthorized charges have been placed on your credit card, please call 911 and report it to your local police department.

The email contents are as follows:

Ensure Verizon emails reach your inbox by adding verizon-notification@verizon.com to your “safe” email list. Your email or Internet provider can provide instructions on how it works.

This email has been sent from an auto-notification system that cannot accept incoming email.
