South Western has played well so far this season.  The Mustangs do have 2 losses but last week they held powerful Mid-Penn foe Central Dauphin to just 17 points and to just over 250 yards of offense.  They’re hoping to build off that performance against a neighborhood opponent in New Oxford.

Taylor Sterner, South Western Quarterback

“The matchup will be fun because their is a lot of people that know each other from school to school so I’m sure their will be some talk but we really don’t like to talk much.  We play on the field and see what the score says at the end of the game.”

Damian Poalucci, South Western Head Coach

“We have to play with intensity and confidence more than anything else, knowing that we are a good football team and we have to play like that and thats a big thing, just doing those little things right all the time.”

New Oxford has been doing the small and big things right.  Last week, they score 51 points in a win against Waynesboro.  Wes Beans led the Colonials with over 200 yards rushing and 4 touchdowns.  But this week, New Oxford needs to step up their play against the Mustangs.

Wes Beans, New Oxford Running Back

“We are facing a local team plus they are a division above us right now.  If we can come out and get a win and surprise some people, it would mean a lot to us.”

Jason Thurston, New Oxford Head Coach

“I feel that we have come a long way from last year and this will be a great test for us, going against a very very good program.”
