Reports of an entrapped kid in a duplex fire, in Lancaster County, create concern for residents.

The fire at 626 East Market Street, in Marietta, started around 7:50 AM Friday.

Marietta Fire Deputy Chief, Nick Ebersol says the flames started on the first floor.

Firefighters began a search for a child following reports on entrapment.  Shortly after, they received confirmation the child wasn’t home.

Although no one was home at the time of the fire, animals, including dogs, cats and birds, were killed in the fire.  The number of animals is undetermined.  One dog was rescued.

Firefighters were able to put out the fire within 20 minutes.  Deputy Chief Ebersol says a majority of the home is lost.
