A loud bang at 8:30 Monday night startled people who live near the 3000 block of Sticks Rd. in Codorus Township, just outside of Glen Rock.

“It was enough to shake you while you were just sitting there watching tv or just standing there,” said Dae Guess, a neighbor. “I came outside, looked down the road and you could see the flames up top above the tree line.”

A house on the block blew up and burst into flames.

“By the time we got there five minutes later, the whole house was gone,” said Guess.

When firefighters arrived, they learned that a woman had just gotten home and was likely underneath the rubble.

It took hours to find her body with the help of an excavating crew.

“It took a while, the whole structure was collapsed down on top of the body,” said Assistant Chief Ron McCullough of the Glen Rock Fire Company

Neighbors say they knew the woman by her first name, “Brenda.”

They’re still in disbelief over her violent death.

“Just no time, at all, to say goodbye to the person or anything. It’s just terrible,” said Guess.

“It’s a terrible thing,” said Jason Welch, a neighbor. “She was, she was a great person. She didn’t deserve to have her life snuffed out at such a young age,”
