Parents in the Chambersburg Area School District say the dress code has gone too far. Wednesday night they protested before, and then packed a school board meeting to voice their concerns over the rules of attire.

Dressed in  colored band aids  and  t- shirts that are banned, parents and students stood in front of the Chambersburg Area School District Office building to speak out against the dress code before the school board meeting.  The dress code, states everything from what color hair the students can have to the pattern on their shorts.

Some parents say it’s not just what’s in it, but how it’s being enforced that’s the problem. One parent told FOX43 that her five-year-old son was pulled out of class for wearing plaid shorts.

” He definitely was embarrassed and upset. I just don’t see how plaid shorts can offend anyone, ” says Dawn Racine of Chambersburg

Chambersburg Area School District Superintendent Dr. Joseph Padasak  says those unhappy with the dress code are in the minority, and that there won’t be any changes to the dress code this year.

Parents say the statement by Padasak won’t stop them from continuing to fight against the dress code. They’ve started a petition and have more than one thousand signatures.
