Strong motivation is a great way to keep you fit throughout the Fall. For one York County woman, she’s finding strength from the inside, out.
The sweat is nothing new for Esther Furman who’s been working out her entire life. But like her weight, her results see-saw. At her heaviest, she weighed 160 pounds. She also battles high cholesterol.
A healthy pick me up from the fitness team at the York Jewish Community Center put Esther on a happier path.
She says, “I’m doing zumba and cardio, circuit and tai chi and yoga and body flow and I’m enjoying it!”
It’s all part of an 8-week fitness challenge.
Fitness director, Kelly Block says, “They do two days of cardio, 1 day of mind, body and 1 class that is more strength so over the eight week period, they see their results because we measure them in the beginning, middle, and end.”
Block says people with a variety of fitness levels come together.
“You create a sense of community and cheer each other on.”
In two weeks, Esther’s cholesterol level is in normal range, and she’s down 5 pounds.
Esther says, “If you fall off the bandwagon for a week, people say don’t give up, keep at it.”
