Organizers are preparing for a big mess on Sunday in Red Lion, York County. That’s because infamous punkin chunker, Jim “Fat Jimmy” Fuller will be in town throwing the gourds as far as the eye can see. Fuller has appeared on the Discovery Channel and competed in Delaware’s World Championship Punkin’ Chunkin’ using two of his man-powered catapults.
Punkin’ Chunker Jim “Fat Jimmy” Fuller says, “We are tweaking it out to make it throw further, but so far in competition we have thrown 500 feet with it, we are hoping to get over 1,000 feet this year. We compete in the human powered division which means you have a two minute time limit with one human being to put the power into the machine to throw it”.
Sunday’s Punkin’ Chunkin’ exhibition will take place at Beavercreek Farm, located at 448 Myers Road, near Red Lion. The fun kicks off at 11 AM. There will also be activities for kids and face painting!
