On Friday police responded to an intoxicated woman who ran into a utility pole in North Middletown Township.

Police say that Ancherie Smith, 33, of Carlisle was arrested along the 1700 block of Spring Road for being intoxicated in public.She was staggering on foot and walked into a utility pole police say.

While in custody and upon arrival at the Cumberland County Prison, police say that Smith became combative and started resisting police. She then bit an uniformed North Middleton police officer on the hand. Smith continued to resist  until correction officers finally restrained her.

Along with her summary charge of public drunkenness, she is now charged with Felony Aggravated assault on a police officer, aggravated harassment by a prisoner, resisting arrest, simple assault and harassment.

She is awaiting arraignment on the above charges.
