Man, 70, arrested for attempted kidnapping in Lebanon City

An elderly man was arrested Monday and accused of attempting to kidnap a 9-year-old girl from her Lebanon City home.

Willis Christ, 70, of Lebanon, is charged with kidnapping, burglary, simple assault and harassment.

Police responded to the 800 block of Walnut Street around 8:30 p.m. for a report of an attempted kidnapping.

The 9-year-old victim told police that a man entered her home, grabbed her from behind and covered her mouth so she could not make any noise.

Police say Christ dragged the girl out of the house and into a nearby alley. The girl was able to escape after a brief struggle .

Officers found Christ a few blocks away from the scene and identified him as a suspect.

Authorities say Chris is not known to the victim or her family.

Christ was taken to the Lebanon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 bail.

The investigation is ongoing.
