Folks across our area baked up some sweet treats and competed in the annual Cupcake Cup in Harrisburg.

More than 40 people entered their made-from-scratch cupcakes into the 5th annual event.  A panel of judges sampled the creations at the Abbey Bar in the Appalachian Brewing Company.

Awards were given for the best cupcakes in both amateur and professional categories.  The judges weren’t the only ones delighting in the deliciousness, around 300 hungry snackers also enjoyed the samples.

“Every year I do this event as a benefit for the Central Pennsylvania food bank and all the money raised here goes to them to help fight hunger here in Central Pennsylvania.” Eric Streisfeld, Founder of Cupcake Cup.

Last year the cupcake cup donated three thousand dollars and close to 300 pounds of food to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank.
