When Andrew McCutchen stepped on the field Sunday before the National League division series game at PNC Park, the record crowd of 40,489 serenaded him with chants of “MVP! MVP!”
Then McCutchen went out and proved just how valuable he is to the Pittsburgh Pirates, starting three rallies with two walks and a double, coming around to score twice, in a 5-3 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals. That leaves the Pirates a victory away from winning the best-of-five series heading into Game 4 on Monday in Pittsburgh.
