After record rainfall caused sinkholes to open up along East Cherry Street in Palmyra, one family says they’re hoping the sinkholes will be filled in before they lose their home.
The road is closed at the 300-block of East Cherry Street because of the sinkholes. Jonathan Stoltzfus says his family had just minutes to evacuate on Friday morning.
They’re staying at a motel and he says they a hope a structural engineer will allow the displaced families to go home soon.
“We haven’t really said much to the kids about the house but if we end up losing the house,” says Stoltzfus. “It’s the only house the three little ones it’s the only place they’ve known, so it’s going to be devastating for them.”
