A Harrisburg City police officer has been suspended with pay while authorities investigate allegations concerning the misuse of Police Athletic League funds , said Robert Philbin, the city’s chief operating officer.

Officer Jennie Jenkins turned in her badge and gun  to Chief Thomas Carter on Friday afternoon, Philbin said.

Jenkins, had been president of the Harrisburg Police Athletic League since the program was restarted in Jan. 2012. The league was formed to provide social, cultural, recreational and educational programs for youth within the city of Harrisburg

Further questions regarding the investigation were directed to the athletic league’s attorney Royce L. Morris. FOX43 News reached out to the athletic league’s attorney–but so far, we have not heard back.

It is unknown how much money was misappropriated.

The investigation is being handled by the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General.
