Governor Tom Corbett today ordered all United States and Pennsylvania flags in the Capitol Complex and at commonwealth facilities across the state to fly at half-staff today, Tuesday, Oct. 29, in honor of the late Thomas S. Foley, former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives.

President Barack Obama ordered the American flag to be flown at half-staff today in honor of Foley. A memorial service was held today in Washington D.C. for the former congressman.

Foley, who represented Washington state in Congress for 30 years between 1965 and 1995, died Oct. 18 at the age of 84.

Both flags should remain lowered until sunset today. The United States and Pennsylvania flags should be flown at full-staff on Wednesday.

All Pennsylvanians are invited to join in this tribute.
