State Police charge a Abbottstown man with homicide by vehicle for a crash that happened on August 14 in Hamilton Township, Adams County.

It happened at around 3:45PM on the 200 block of Forest Drive. Police say Jonathan M. Giannotto, 44, was driving a pickup truck headed east on Forest Drive he allegedly struck Charles E. Ankney, 55, who was riding on his lawnmower.

Ankney suffered serious injuries and died as a result of the crash.

State Police, the Adams County Coroner’s Office and the Adams County District Attorney say Giannotto was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

Giannotto’s was arrested at his home and taken to Adams County Prison.

He faces several charges including homicide by vehicle while DUI, driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and other summary traffic violations.

Following arraignment Giannotto was sent to Adams County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bond.
