On the eve of the election for her successor, Harrisburg Mayor Linda Thompson, holds a final news conference at city hall. Mayor Thompson, touted the Harrisburg Strong initiative, aimed at solving the city’s financial crisis.  She also called for cooperation from City Council in the last days of her administration.

“My administration has a couple of months to complete its mission. We plan on finishing those goals and missions.  We welcome and embrace city council’s involvement in every step and there can be no lame duck administration at this point in our city’s history. We can’t afford a lame duck administration. I assure you there will be work left for the next administration.  However it will not be the kind of mess I inherited.” declared Thompson.

The Harrisburg Strong initiative is supported by Democrat Eric Papenfuse and opposed by Dan Miller, the City Controller and also a Democrat, who is running on the Republican ticket.
