A’stasia Crawford is a York County native with a voice as big as her personality. She is currently attending Norfolk State University majoring in Biology/Pre-Med, with aspirations of becoming a pediatrician. On summer breaks A’stasia comes home and works at her hometown McDonald’s. “I am from York Pennsylvania. Right now I am attending school but I do come back on breaks to work at McDonald’s. I have been working for McDonald’s for about five years. I work at the McDonald’s and Wal-Mart at the West Manchester Mall,” said Crawford.

That is how she heard about the Voice of McDonald’s, a global singing competition for crew members and managers. “My fellow co-workers were asking me to enter this competition for the past few years that I have been working at McDonald’s. Finally with their encouragement I decided to enter the competition,” said Crawford.

Much to her surprise A’stasia is now one of 25 semi-finalists nationwide. “I am very shocked. I didn’t even think I was going to get into the competition in the beginning. I was just like, let me record this video and see where it takes me, and it’s taken me pretty far,” said Crawford.

A’stasia’s family and friends are standing behind her. “They have been so supportive and I have been feeling so grateful for them supporting me. And they have been more excited than me. It’s kind of like they are in the competition too,” said Crawford.

Outside of her mother’s home hangs a poster urging people to vote for her. “It would mean so much. This is like her dream, so I would like to see her dreams come true. It means a lot to us,” said Angela Holmes, A’stasia’s mother.

“She works so hard at it. She is a good girl and I feel like she deserves it. It’s just a matter of time,” said A’stasia’s boyfriend Saquan Hicks.

Her friends at McDonald’s are on-board too. “I think that this is a great unexpected turn for A’stasia. I think that when she came here to work she had no idea that she would be making this video and getting such publicity that she is getting today,” said Hope Hoover-Armstead, Owner/Operator of McDonald’s Wal-Mart. “Every store we have cards to hand out, We are wearing badges, and we have signs in the windows for the customers and for the employees.”
