If you’re not a history buff, you might not know, Sunday was “Articles of Confederation Day” in York County.
The York County Heritage Trust hosted the history celebration at the Colonial Courthouse in York.
Organizers wanted to give the document a special day because it was written during the Revolutionary War and set the stage for the Declaration of Independence.
Performer Kent Courtney used music and stories to talk to local students about how the articles formed American government.
“The liberty of which we cherish so much, I think our idea of independence is formulated here in York and the idea of how we are supposed to look at each other as citizens and as individual states united as a country and I think that is quite an honor to be a part of that,” Courtney says.
Mr. Courtney helped present student media awards to kids who entered their own history presentations in a contest.
