The Strasburg Rail Road was transformed into a new science fiction era this weekend.
The Lancaster County attraction hosted a Steampunk Unlimited event.
Steampunk is styled off a fictional world in the Victorian and Edwardian periods, except that everyone uses steam powered technology.
That’s why customers saw period costumes on display and steam engines at work.
For fans, the Strasburg Rail Road was a much more fitting venue for this than a typical event center.
“Strasburg Rail Road was Steampunk, it is Steampunk and it will always be Steampunk. We love steam, steam powered technology that’s what we do and we feel we offer a great back drop for a Steampunk event.  This is a lot of fun and if Thomas the Train is for the little kids, this is for the big kids,” says Steve Barrall, Strasburg Rail Road Station Master.
Organizers say the event drew thousands of people out to the rail road this weekend.
