A suspicious device that turned out to be a pipe bomb is discovered in Swatara Township, Dauphin County.  About 3:43 pm Wednesday afternoon a landscaper working on a property in the 400 block of Eisenhower Boulevard discovered the device lying in the grass.  Police secured the area, but did not feel a need for evacuations.

Police responded to the scene and confirmed that the device was a PVC pipe bomb about four inches in length with a visible fuse. The Pennsylvania State Police Hazardous Device & Explosives Section was called to assist PSP Bomb Technicians.  The technicians said the bomb appeared to be home made and was probably loaded with black powder. The device was taken away for disposal. The all clear was given at around 5:08 pm

Anyone with information about the device is asked to contact Swatara Township Police at (717) 564-2550.
