A horse pulling an Amish buggy was shot by someone in a passing vehicle and later died, according to East Lampeter Township Police. It happened around 9pm Sunday night in the 100 block of North Ronks Road. The buggy was travelling north when the vehicle passed it and the occupants heard a noise they described as a firecracker.

Both vehicles continued north without stopping.  When the buggy arrived home at a farm approximately a mile from the scene it was discovered that the horse was bleeding from the mouth.  A veterinarian was called but the horse died before the vet arrived.   A bullet hole was discovered on the left chest area of the horse.  None of the occupants of the buggy were injured.  Anyone with information is asked to contact East Lampeter Twp Police (717) 291-4676.
