Driver sought after leading police on high-speed chase in Carlisle

Authorities are on the lookout for a driver who led police on a high-speed chase in a stolen vehicle in Carlisle early Tuesday. It all started around 3:11 a.m. when police attempted to pull over the driver of a 1999 Jeep Cherokee at South Hanover Street and Interstate 81.

According to police reports, once the officer stepped out of his vehicle–the driver of the jeep turned off his headlights and took off, reaching speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

Eventually the stolen SUV became disabled in the area of Holly Park and Rice Elementary School. Both the driver and passenger took off on foot.

Police say the SUV was reported stolen out of New Jersey.
