MILD NIGHT AHEAD
Temperatures tonight will be closer to our average highs for this time of the year. Expect lows to only drop into the low to mid 40s. We could start off our morning once again with fog, mist and perhaps some drizzle, which may cause issues with lowered visibility like this morning.
MILD BUT UNSETTLED
We’ll end the week with periods of rain Friday. Areas of low pressure will ride the front which looks to stall across the area, keeping things pretty wet and much of the day. Temperatures will fall from the 50s early in the morning to the mid 40s by afternoon. Something we need to watch is how quickly the colder air spills in. For the northwest part of the state, rain will turn to snow where they could pick up a few inches. North and west of Harrisburg, we could see rain briefly change to snow before ending.
WEEKEND OUTLOOK
High pressure builds in for Saturday bringing some sunshine back but temperatures will be cooler as an upper level trough settles in overhead. Highs will be chilly in the upper 30s under partly sunny skies. Sunday, the clouds look to thicken as the next system moves in from the southwest. It will be cold as high pressure is situated to our north reinforcing the chill. As of now, snow showers may be possible Sunday afternoon to start, as warmer air rides in, may mix with sleet and freezing rain but eventually enough warm air will change the precipitation to all rain overnight into Monday. Question right now will be when does this happen. We could be dealing with an icy mix late Sunday for several hours so we’ll have to watch this system closely in the upcoming days.
Monday may start out with an icy mix but precipitation should change to rain as warmer air rides in.
Tuesday into Wednesday, while it will be dry with high pressure building in, temperatures will be well below average, so bundle up!
