Police in Dauphin County are on the lookout for whomever is stealing storm drain covers from roadways in Swatara Township.  Investigators believe the drain covers are being stolen to be sold as scrap metal. The rectangular covers weigh approximately 400 pounds each and measure two feet by four feet.

The drain covers are positioned along the curbing and prevent vehicles and pedestrians from falling down into the drain, which could cause serious damages, injuries and possibly death.  Anyone removing the drain covers would not only face Theft charges, but could be held liable for any damages or injuries.

Swatara Township Police are asking anyone who may seen a person or persons removing drain covers or acting suspiciously around them to call Dauphin County Dispatch non-emergency at (717) 558-6900.
