Good morning on this Saturday. Another detailed look at the latest weather guidance shows that more or less we’re still on track for some wintry weather today with only a few tweaks and notes.
…The Winter Storm Warning continues until 4AM Sunday morning for all of our counties…
TIMING BREAKDOWN: We’re looking at spotty light to moderate snow beginning during the daybreak hours through about noon as cold air sits in place and moisture slides on into PA. Then from noon through 2pm, the snow will begin to fill in and intensify for all of us. Snow will become heavy at times from 2-8pm, especially to the north and west of the I-81/Turnpike corridor. Begining around 8pm, give or take an hour, we’ll see rain and an icy mix try to move in to our southern counties south of Route 30. This will eventually spread north, changing the snow to a mix and rain during the evening. The wintry and wet weather should all come to a close by around 1-3am on Sunday morning.
HOW MUCH: Snow totals will be highest to the northwest and lowest to the southeast. The rain changeover timing will be crucial on the final amount, but based on what we’re looking at this morning, the rule from yesterday looks pretty close.
Along and south of the I-81/Turnpike: 1-4”
North of the I-81/Turnpike & mountains: 4-8”
There will be locally higher amounts possible. Also, some light icing is possible at 0.1-0.2” making for slick conditions. Rain totals could touch the 0.25” or so in the south if the changeover happens earlier. We’ll be watching this through the day.
