Fire damages apartment building in New Holland

Fire damages a three story apartment building in New Holland Borough. The fire broke out at about 5:11 pm in the building along the 100 block of West Main Street.  The first crews to arrive on the scene reported seeing smoke and flames.

The fire apparently started in a mattress in a bedroom room of the third floor apartment. Two people in that apartment escaped safely. The investigation continues.
