With all the hustle and bustle of the holidays, comes cooking the traditional Christmas dinner.
Thanks to local volunteers, hundreds of families in Lancaster County will have a meal to enjoy this year.
Food boxes were packed and delivered to needy families on Sunday in Columbia, Marietta and Mount Joy, as well as in Wrightsville in York County.
For the past 11 years, the Columbia Lions Club has been organizing the Christmas food event.
The boxes contain everything from turkey to milk, eggs, and canned goods.
Ken Kramer, with the Lions Club says, “It’s about the need, it’s Christmas time and it’s also about getting the community out here. We had hundreds of people out here with their children and it was all about getting the kids involved because that’s our future generation that someday, hopefully they’re gonna be there to follow through with projects just like this.”
The food box giveaway was sponsored by the Sunsnappers Organization.
Toys were also collected to for the children.
