Lititz Borough police have released the name of the man who was shot and killed in a police incident yesterday.

Lancaster county coroner has confirmed that the victim from the police involved shooting is David P. Giliberti,  22-year-old from 101 Arrowhead Drive, Lititz PA.

Around 3a.m. Saturday morning, an officer responded to the 100 block of Arrowhead Drive for a dispute between a grandmother and her grandson. When the officer arrived he was  confronted by Giliberti who threatened to kill the officer.

The officer says he got into a physical altercation with Giliberti when Giliberti  reached for the officers holstered gun. The officer pushed Giliberti away and tasered him. Giliberti wasn’t affected by the shock and ran inside the home, grabbed a knife and came lunging towards the officer.

After multiple warnings to stop from the officer, the officer was forced to open fire. Giliberti was shot several times and died at the scene, police reports said.

The Lancaster County District Attorney’s office is investigating and will determine whether or not the officer’s use of deadly force was reasonable.

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave.
