Once again an anonymous do-gooder has dropped valuable gold coins into a Lancaster Salvation Army Kettle.

The exact value of the coins won’t be known until an expert can determine when the coins were minted. One thing is for sure–the golden gifts will help a lot of people in need throughout the year.

“We are so very thankful for these donors who have made these donations. These gifts will assist us in our Red Kettle Campaign; we are currently running behind the goal for this year,”  said Captain Tim Sheehan, Commanding Officer for The Salvation Army.

As of Christmas Eve, the Salvation Army in Lancaster is running $25,000 behind last year.

Those who want to contribute to the campaign can do so at any kettle until 2 p.m. today–or visit http://www.onlineredkettle.org/lancastersalvationarmy to donate.
