The City of Lancaster geared up for it’s annual Red Rose drop. The event has been held for more than 20 years. This years event will be held in Binns Park. Up to 4,000 people are expected this year. The celebration also features a soul band called Shrimpboat.

The guitar player for the band, Bobby Gentilo, said “tonight it’s not going to be hard to stay warm. We don’t play one song that’s not going to make you want to move. So dress appropriately, but leave yourself some room to move.” Shrimpboat has been playing for exactly 1 year making New Years Eve their anniversary together as a band.

The Red Rose will also drop at midnight. The event was organized by the mayors office and also includes a fireworks show. Jennifer Baker works for the Mayor’s Office of Special Events. She said the celebration brings a lot of business to Lancaster. “People come out and they are eating downtown. I mean the restaurants will be packed tonight. I know somebody who was trying to get a reservation last week and the people were kind of laughing at them like yeah right we don’t have any reservations left” said Baker.
