A man is facing numerous charges after he punched a York City police officer during a traffic stop Friday night, police said.

Investigators have charged 27-year-old John T. Hill III with possession with intent to deliver, aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest and other charges.

The assault occurred around 11:48 p.m. when police stopped a vehicle that Hill was a passenger in.

When officers attempted to arrest Hill on outstanding warrants, he punched a cop in the face and ran away, police said.

During his brief escape, police say Hill tried carjack a vehicle.  When his efforts failed, Hill ran into Norms Bar along the 300 block of East College Avenue where he was subsequently arrested.

According to police reports,  Hill was in possession of $689 in cash, 117 bags of heroin, 7 grams of crack cocaine and 16 grams of marijuana.
