The United State Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force arrest 19 year old Elvin Mateo wanted in an October shooting in the area of Market and West Streets. City police who responded to the call recovered two handguns that allegedly were dropped by fleeing suspects.  Mateo was later identified as one of the suspects who dropped a handgun.

A warrant was issued for Mateo’s arrest and Pennsylvania State Police requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals in locating Mateo.   The task force finally located Mateo at a home on East Street in York City. U.S. Marshals and police closed in as he was leaving the home, but Mateo ran back inside.  He was found hiding and taken into custody. Two firearms were also seized.

Charges against Mateo include Possession of a Prohibited Firearm, Firearms not to be Carried Without a License and Receiving Stolen Property.
