The Scranton Times-Tribune on Wednesday reported that Penn State offered its head-coaching position to Vanderbilt coach James Franklin during “an hours-long meeting with the university’s search committee in Destin, Fla.”

Citing a pair of anonymous sources, the Times-Tribune reported that the 41-year-old Franklin will either accept or reject the offer Thursday.

Later reports surfaced the Centre Daily Times in State College, Pa., disputed the report via Twitter.

The coach was reportedly in line to interview with the Washington Redskins for their coaching vacancy, but later Wednesday evening, ESPN reported that there would be no interview with the Redskins, and that Franklin’s choice was down to Penn State or staying at Vanderbilt.
