Lancaster City Police receive a report of shots fired at about 2:48 pm this afternoon in the area Martin Luther King Elementary along the 500 block of South Duke Street. Police say an anonymous caller reported two black males, one wearing a red sweatshirt and the other a black sweatshirt, were seen in the playground area of the school.  One of the males fired a single shot from a handgun. Both males then fled running east toward Green Street.

Responding officers found a single spent casing on the southwest corner of the school playground. There were no students on the playground at the time the shot were fired.  There were no reported injuries, nor damage to property.

Detectives are conducting follow ups in coordination with the Lancaster Safety Coalition with operates street cameras in the area.

A School District of Lancaster spokeswoman says King Elementary School was placed on exterior lock-down for about 20 minutes. Students were dismissed at their regular time at 3:15 pm.
