Police in Franklin County seize 170 packets of synthetic marijuana in a raid on the Molly Pitcher Mini-Mart along the 1300 block of Molly Pitcher Highway in Antrim Township. The Franklin County Drug Task Force executed a search warrant following an investigation that began in the fall of 2013 in response to complaints from parents and concerned citizens. In addition to observing suspected sales of synthetic marijuana, confidential informants also made several purchases from the store.
Surjit Singh Dhillon, the store’s owner was working behind a counter when police went into the store at about 8:40 pm. A stolen handgun was found inside a draw behind the counter where Dhillon was working. The packets of synthetic marijuana were found hidden above the ceiling tiles in a storage room in the back of the store. The synthetic marijuana consisted primarily of the brand names “Hookah Blast”, “Bizarro”, and “Funky Green Stuff”, each sold as “herbal incense”. The street value of seized synthetic marijuana is approximately $7,700.
Elsewhere in the store, police found glass smoking pipes, screens, other drug paraphernalia, financial documents, counterfeit “North Face” apparel and a large quantity of money.
Charges against Dhillon include Unlawful Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance, Distribution of a Designer Drug, Receiving Stolen Property, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Following arraignment, Dhillon was sent to Franklin County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail.
