COLD START: Single digits, again! It’s another extra cup of coffee, warm the car kind of morning. Plus some light snow grazed our southern counties overnight, so a quick brush off of the cars is in order. Watch for slick roads too. We’ll warm today, under sunshine and a cold breeze only to the upper teens. Overnight, it’s clear and temps drop to the single digits.
WARMING: By Thursday, the high shifts east and southerly winds will kick in to warm us up to the upper 20s under sunshine. Friday, clouds roll in as the temps rise into the upper 30s. We may see a flake or a few drops in spots.
WEEKEND: Saturday looks to start mainly dry. A system will bring us some rain to snow mix late with snow showers tapering overnight, and a few may linger into early Sunday. Accumulations look limited at this time. Highs touch 40°. Sunday, we’re into the low 40s but it looks dry and mostly cloudy for now.
NEXT WEEK: We’ll see a shot at some snow on Monday as temps return to the middle 30s. Tuesday looks dry, with another storm system, maybe more potent for mid-week. The pattern becomes more active and strength, positioning, and timing of systems next week are not handled well by the models. We’ll have to keep tweaking as it gets closer.
SUPER BOWL & SUPER HOG: First up, Ground Hog’s Day is Sunday and we’re looking at clouds and maybe a few rain to snow showers around in Punxsutawney. So, Phil may have a shot at not seeing his shadow and an early spring would arrive if you buy the lore. We’ll see! He’s only been correct less than 40% of the time…slightly less than my rate…….RIM SHOT!
For the Super Bowl in East Rutherford NJ, we’re forecasting temps near 40 for kick off under partly to mostly cloudy skies with a light breeze. For now, it looks dry, but we watching models trend toward a few light rain showers. Be sure to guess the kick off temperature at 6:30PM Sunday for a chance to win a $599 gift card!
