Police: Animals found in filthy conditions at North Middleton Twp. home

A Cumberland County woman could be facing charges after police found over 50 animals living in deplorable conditions at her home early last week. Officers were dispatched to a home along the first block of Hoy Road in North Middleton Township on Tuesday for an unrelated issue.

That’s when investigators noticed there numerous domestic and wild animals living in filthy conditions at the home. Animal control officers responded on Friday and spoke with the homeowner, identified as 59-year-old Sondra Lea McCoy.

Authorities say the house was uninhabitable, with animal feces and urine scattered throughout the home. Many of the animals were found in poor health.

The animals include dogs, cats, an albino ground hog, a de-scented skunk and two monkeys.

The case is under investigation and criminal charges are pending.

The Humane Society and the Pennsylvania State Dog Warden are also working with police in the investigation.
